Laser permanent makeup/ tattoo removal is an effective solution for the removal of unwanted treatments.

The laser handheld device emits powerful pulses of energy to the unwanted tattoo shattering the tattoo ink into tiny fragments.
The body’s immune system gradually absorbs the fragmented pigments after several sessions resulting in the permanent make-up/tattoo’s appearance fading.

BENEFITS OF LASER REMOVAL

After just a single treatment, you should notice a visible reduction in your permanent make-up or tattoo. Several sessions may be needed to reach optimal results.

Although there is no guarantee that the treatment sessions will completely remove the tattoo from the skin, many patients show minimal visible remnants of the tattoo after their treatments.

Moderate downtime

The number of treatment sessions required depends on the size of the tattoo or permanent make-up treament, density, pigment type, skin type, the quality of the tattoo and the age of the treatment. The sessions are usually 8 weeks apart.

How does laser tattoo/permanent makeup removal work?
Laser works by shattering ink particles into smaller pieces. Smaller ink particles are then removed from your skin by your immune system within the next few weeks. You will see your permanent makeup or tattoo lightening gradually within several weeks after your laser tattoo removal session.

The immune system plays a huge part in removing the broken ink particles. It is crucial to take steps such as drinking enough water, exercising, and avoiding smoking/alcohol to help things along.

What types of permanent makeup/tattoos can be removed with laser?
I offer the following laser removal treatments: laser removal of eyebrow tattoos; laser removal of small body tattoos; laser removal of scalp micropigmentation tattoos.
Is the procedure painful?
Laser removal of permanent brows, or body tattoo does involve some level of pain. Although many clients comment that it is very tolerable and hurts less than they expected.

The most common descriptions of the pain include the sensation of a rubber band snapping against the skin and some heat sensation – uncomfortable but bearable.

The good news is that the session is quick – it takes around 30 seconds to work over one eyebrow for example.

How many sessions will I need? How long will it take to get rid of my permanent makeup tattoo?

It is not possible to predict exactly how many sessions will be required to achieve the desired results as every case is different.

If you are planning to have new permanent makeup applied over an old one, then fewer sessions will be required, as we will just need to lighten old work rather than remove it completely; as long as you are happy with the shape of the eyebrows.

There must be 8-12 weeks between the laser removal sessions because your immune system needs enough time to flush out the ink particles shattered by the laser beam. Having laser removal sessions more frequently will NOT produce faster results.

Permanent makeup/tattoo removal is a slow process and requires a long-term commitment. It may take around a year to remove a light set of permanent eyebrows or a light body tattoo, and longer for darker, more saturated permanent makeup or tattoos.

How long does the treatment take?
The average removal treatment for permanent makeup eyebrows or a small body tattoo is around 20 minutes, which will include the time of applying a cool pack onto the treated area. The actual time of applying a laser beam to the tattoo is a few seconds per eyebrow.
Will my permanent makeup or tattoo disappear completely?
If laser removal sessions are continued, then in most cases the tattoo/permanent makeup will disappear completely. However as every skin is different and a number of factors influence the process, it is not possible to predict how well or how fast your permanent makeup or tattoo will fade and if it will fade completely.
How will I look straight after the procedure?
Immediately after the treatment your tattoo may look lighter, darker, or exactly the same as it looked before the treatment. You will notice it getting gradually lighter in the next 6-12 weeks after the laser treatment.

Immediately after the procedure, you may have some white frosting, swelling, redness and sometimes bruising around the area that has been treated.

During the first 24-72 hours (in some cases longer) skin may look reddened, swollen, inflamed and feel sore, although the swelling and redness will not usually last longer than 24 hours.
In most cases, the skin will stay intact. In rare cases, there may be bleeding and sometimes blisters may form after a few hours after the treatment.

Will my brow hair go white?
Sometimes brow hair may go white after a laser eyebrow removal session. They will not stay white forever and new hair will grow back normal. Hair whitening does not happen very often, but if you are worried about your hair going white you can tint your eyebrows 3-4 days before your eyebrow removal session, this will prevent the hair from going white.
Will my brows fall out or stop growing after laser removal?
No, lasers that are used for tattoo removal do not have an effect on the hair, and thus your hair will not fall out and will not stop growing after laser removal. In fact, your brow hair may start growing better after a few removal sessions as local inflammation created by the laser beam may stimulate hair follicles and make hair grow better.
Is laser removal better than saline removal?
Laser removal may produce quicker results and has better-looking healing process. However, the laser cannot remove colours like white, beige, orange, yellow, green and blue. In contrast, saline removal works on any colour and at ByJade we would often use a combination of these methods.

Will laser permanent makeup removal leave scarring?
In some cases, pre-existing scarring is already present from the permanent makeup/tattoo application itself. If this scarring is present, it will remain after the removal process.

Laser tattoo removal treatment usually does not leave scarring when correct treatment protocols and correct aftercare are followed.

Are there any side effects from the laser removal treatment?
Common side effects are localised swelling, redness, bruising and burning sensation.
Less common side effects are blistering, scabbing, bleeding, and hyperpigmentation.

Redness, tenderness, and swelling typically subside within 24-48 hours following the treatment. Blistering usually appears within 24 hours of removal treatment; the blisters can be quite large – this is normal. Scabs, bruising, and blistering may take up to a week or longer to heal.

Can you do tattoo removal on dark skin?

Yes! Tattoos on dark skin types can be completely removed. However, the tattoo ink will play a factor in the removal outcome. Not all ink colours can be removed from dark skin types, and the Fitzpatrick scale helps By Jade determine which ink colours are safe to remove from different skin types.

Does laser removal work on dark skin?

Yes! Laser tattoo removal is the safest method to remove tattoos. Laser removal is a non-invasive procedure that does not cause scarification or damage to the surrounding tissue. What are the possible side effects of laser tattoo removal for darker skin tones?

Hyperpigmentation: The darkening of skin over time

Hypopigmentation: The lightening of the skin around the removed tattoo

Keloid scars: While rare, keloids are raised scar tissue that develops around the treated area.

Risk of tattoo removal hypopigmentation

Ineffective laser removal on darker skin can increase the risk of temporary colour loss. Most cases fade, but a small number can leave a light “ghost” outline of the tattoo, especially when the treatment is done by someone inexperienced. It’s usually less noticeable on fair skin and harder to conceal on deeper tones.
